The An Quaich Society is an organization
through which members may obtain specially selected, quality single
malt whiskies from Scotland that are unavailable from local liquor
stores. An Quaich is pronounced "An-quake"; add a back
"ch" as in "Loch Ness" if you can!
The Society is dedicated to helping those interested individuals
increase their knowledge, appreciation, and enjoyment of single
malt whisky. To learn more, why not attend a meeting in your area?
An Quaich was founded in Ottawa in 1983 as a result of the founder being unable
to obtain a particular brand of scotch malt whisky from a local
liquor store. A full case was specially ordered and readily shared by friends. Thus was formed An Quaich.
The Society continues to bring together a growing number of people
who have a common interest in, and fascination for, single malt
whisky. The Society provides a means for sharing and developing
that interest, both for the novice and the enthusiast, through regular
nosings and tastings and exchanges of news, views, and ideas.
An Quaich has grown from that initial group in 1983 to now include
almost one thousand members who meet in twenty chapters throughout
Ontario. Membership is open to anyone living in Canada and there
are already members across the country. |
